SCPS has moved to Skyward Attendance requests.   

Types of Absences: 

• Medical:  a medical appointment with an official documentation signed by the doctor
• Court:  a court appearance with an official document signed by the court
• Excused:  a parent note for a missed day of school including family obligations; vacations and college visits 

Ten (10) parent notes will be accepted per school year to excuse students’ absences that result from student illness. 

If a student exceeds ten absences in a school year, the only notes that will be accepted to excuse student absences are as follows:

• Medical treatment provided by a licensed health professional via an official document. This includes, but is not limited to, a doctor, orthodontist, dentist, chiropractor, psychologist, vision, etc.
• Law enforcement order or court subpoena via a subpoena document. 
• Observance of religious practices or a religious holiday.
• Death of a family member via a death certificate, funeral program, obituary, etc

Attendance Procedure:

• Parents log into Parent Skyward Access and submit an attendance absence request 
  • Directions in English
  • Directions in Spanish
    • Excused Absence Request:  Parent types in Skyward note and no further action is required
    • Medical/Court Absence Request:  Parent types in Skyward note and then emails official documentation with the Student ID as the subject line to lyhs_attendance@scps.k12.fl.us
• Parents will receive an approval or denial when Lyman staff have reviewed the absence request  

Any student who exceeds 5 unexcused absences in any period will forfeit their opportunity to attend the Homecoming Dance.

Seniors will not be able to participate in Senior Privileges if they exceed 5 unexcused absences and will forfeit their opportunity to attend Prom or other senior activities.
